Since 1968 Aboriginal communities have been coming to a farm near the town of Katherine NT for the annual Christian Convention. A stage was purpose built years ago to serve such events.
We requested that the local churches in town host our Heritage concert out at the farm and the Morrow family made their property available. A YWAM team turned up early afternoon to help us set up. As the sun set cars and buses started rolling in down the dusty farm road. By nightfall a few hundred people, some from up to 400kms away gathered for the concert.
It was a special night with a wonderful response to the invitation given later in the evening. A Swedish backpacker called Sven walked forward and gave his life to Christ for the first time. He had traveled half way round the world and then been invited by a local to come and hear the good news of Jesus. Many others made decisions for Christ and the ministry team prayed with each of them.
Our whole team camped at the farm on the banks of the Katherine river. Apart from the mosquito’s it was a fantastic place to stage a concert. Thanks to Ps Des and the folks from local churches who helped out. Thanks to the Morrow’s as well.

Another night, another town.
Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra tunic. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.” They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. Mark 6: 6-12
No two towns or concert venues are ever the same. Every event is unique from load in to load out. Night after night the concerts all take on their own characteristics and appeal. After a long drive from Alice Springs we rolled into Tennant Creek, once famous for gold mining and as a strategic military base back in WW11. A classic Outback town with the main north/south road running through it.

The cattle and the Kangaroos and Emu’s roam free out in these parts. It is a desolate yet beautiful part of Australia. The team camped out in the middle of nowhere on the drive to Alice Springs.
We are all starting to get adjusted to life on the road and being willing to set up camp anywhere. Praise God for a country where we still have the freedom to experience the adventure of traveling evangelism and outback missions. Many of the towns for the next month are remote and small in population. But we still see the work we are doing as vital to serve the local churches and lead as many people to faith in Christ as we can. In this past week we have ministered to thousands. Radio interviews, schools, prisons plus 2 concerts and 2 church services.
