NEVER GET WEARY OF DOING GOOD

The more I read of the Apostle Paul the more amazed I become at his ability to never give up… no matter what the circumstances this man always found a positive way to praise God and remain faithful to his original vision. He would use just about anything to inspire non believing crowds that this man called Jesus was Messiah, God as man on earth to reveal the fullness of His grace and love for all humanity.
I got these thoughts from reading some of Kerrie’s Bible study notes this week.
Paul went through seasons where he would support himself by making tents, other times he would be supported by the brothers and be freed up to minister. He stayed in this one place in Ephesus for 2 years.
God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. Acts 19:11-12
God was even using handkerchiefs and aprons! He can use anything in our hands if we are willing to have a go!!
As in many Mediterranean countries there is always a 5 hour break, (siesta time)  in the afternoons. But instead of going and sleeping, or resting, Paul chose to teach the Word. He was showing his genuine love for the Ephesian people. He genuinely cared for them.  Faith works by love. The people new that Paul loved them. He did not have an easy life. He worked so hard to stay on the road and never manipulate finances from the local churches. Some seasons he was well supported and other times he went back to making tents so that he could fund his missions.
Miracles will happen if we will practically love someone by the sweat of our brow. You and I can be used like Paul if we: “Take our eyes off our problems, our challenges, our temptations, our tribulations, our struggles, our dilemma.” Miracles happen when genuine unconditional love is put into action.
Pray with us for this next season.. Ironically, we can identify with Paul so much. There are some years where our ministry is well supported by praying friends and other seasons where we have to get creative and work hard for finances. At the moment we are selling quite a few things because we believe we must not stop doing evangelism in Australia and beyond. Like paul…. out of authentic love for people, some hard work and a few sacrifices we will see miracles happen!!!!
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
Like an old farm shed!!!! Keep standing strong and keep being useful to those around you!!
Godspeed,

G’day from Steve,

The Wonder of Creation and worrying about Life.

With every outgoing tide along the northern beaches of Tasmania’s coastline tens of thousands of sand worms carry out their daily procedure of digging deeper into the sand, leaving a myriad of artistic tubular mounds. Every one is unique and captivating…. and destined to be washed away with the returning tide, only to be repeated in the hours of the coming day. Their multi dimensional patterns had me captivated knowing they were the remnants of a worm at work.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:24-27

God knows the great challenges each of us face at different seasons of our lives. The financial struggles, the physical limitations, the family issues.. the list goes on. We all have battles and baggage to contend with. But above all that we have the choice to either be ‘better or bitter’. We choose to get up in the morning and do what we do.. to get on with it. Like a sand worm!!! If he does not dig his way into the sand on low tide he becomes lunch for the local seagull’s!! It’s worth digging deeper and getting on with life. It’s worth putting the most important things first and not being distracted what the system says you need. Just be you. You and Jesus is all you really need. The rest sorts itself out.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34

As you read this we will be travelling across the Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania after two weeks of concerts and ministry throughout Tasmania. Thanks for your interest in our work in serving churches across Australia. We are grateful for some amazing events and the opportunity to sing and preach to many people.

The Heritage Acoustic Tour continues later this week into country Victoria and then on to New South Wales. Thanks for your support and prayers.

Godspeed,

The Gift of Perseverance.

“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 4:25 – Romans 5:1-5

The great American President Abraham Lincoln once said.. “I am not concerned that you have fallen; I am concerned that you arise.”

It is estimated 620,000 American’s lost their lives in the 1861 – 1865 Civil war which broke out shortly after Lincoln was elected to lead the nation. For many years he had persevered. He had failed many times and yet persisted. He was known as “Honest Abe” by his peers. He and his wife had many times of heart break as only one of their 4 sons reached adulthood. Abraham Lincoln was a Godly man of faith, yet was never aligned with any particular denomination. One month after his inauguration shots were fired in South Carolina that ushered in the bloodiest war in American history. A war Lincoln had hoped to resolve peacefully. But through the most turbulent era of American history he was the man that stood his ground on issues such as the abolishment of slavery. He was assassinated April 14th, 1865 but will always be known and honoured as a great statesmen and leader.
