True Worship
“Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24: 14-15
Joshua was resolute as he stood before the multitudes. Righteous anger burned in his heart but humility, grace and wisdom directed the words that came from his mouth. How many more times would the people of Israel curse themselves by turning to other god’s and worship things rather than God. We all have the potential to ignore the Lord in our lives and pursue other things that bring temporary relief and pleasure. We can worship our lifestyles, careers, bank accounts and possessions. We can worship TV, the internet, sport, fashion, even our church or ministry. It is time to put Jesus Christ first and trust God with all these things.
Joshua and his family made a covenant agreement, that no matter what…. they would serve the Lord. They would worship the Lord. He knew too well the pain of the past and the cycle of captivity and poverty that comes from the sin of ignoring God. As Jonah confessed in his prayer. “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I with a song of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the Lord”. Jonah 2: 8-9
My constant prayer is that for me and my household, we will be serving the Lord and putting Him first in all we do. Thanks again for all your support and prayers as we serve the local church across Australia at this time.
Godspeed,

Steve Grace
