It dawned on me today that I will basically be “on the road” till December. That means living with a guitar, a travel bag and a Bible. That means learning to be patient at airports and doing many miles across Australia and America. That means living one day at a time and seeking the Lord for all He has for that day. It means never forgetting that “people matter most”. That means missing home and even missing the football finals back in Australia. But that’s OK. The gift of travel is amazing.
My favorite pages in the Bible when I was 9 years old were the last 5. They were the coloured map travel pages of the ancient world.
The places Jesus went to, the adventures of Moses and the people of Israel as they fled captivity and persecution. There were the great missionary journey’s of Paul.
These were the pages that captivated me through the long Sunday morning sermon’s at church.
I grew up loving maps and longing to connect with people in those far off places. So…. it looks like the Lord was true to His word when He called me into a traveling ministry.
That meant developing a love for the church. Every church. Even denominations that had a different theological view than me. So I love the church.
But I despise religion. That’s when man takes control and leaves the grace of God out. People become like prisoners under the fear of the Pharaoh of Egypt. Oppressive, legalistic, controlling religion that cripples people’s dreams and visions. Don’t ever let the spirit of religion bind up what God has called you to do. There is too much need in this broken world to be hobbled by fear. Serve the church that Jesus builds.
Matthew 28: 18 - 20. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Travel well. Love God and love people.
Godspeed,
