G’day from Steve,

Expect the Unexpected_dsc6237_2

I am absolutely convinced that where God guides… He provides. When we are serving His vision He will take care of the provision. While I was hiking trails to PNG highland villages this past week to do impromptu concerts, preach the gospel and pray with the locals, I was unaware that at home our only means of family transport, our faithful and well travelled white Mitsubishi Pajero had broken a timing chain in the engine. Kerrie was able to get word through to me when we arrived in Goroka.

Yep… we’ve had lots of action with vehicles this year. ( I don’t think the enemy likes us out on the road telling people about Jesus! )

So we’re down to borrowing vehicles at the moment but that’s OK!! I have to smile because I know the Lord is in control. It’s always when I’m away
preaching the good news that washing machines, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and cars blow up. I praise the Lord for an amazing wife who recognizes these setbacks for what they are.

If we have to wear soiled clothes, sweep the floor, and hitch hike to accomplish the Lord’ s work we will. Listen to these inspiring words from the apostle Paul….

2 Corinthians 4: 8-10. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

2 Corinthians 4: 16-18. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

I am so excited about the ministry doors opening up at this time but also very aware that this ministry thrives on the prayers and practical help of kingdom people. People who may not always be able to go to the utter most parts but can help us get there and back home again.

Thanks for your friendship in the fight.

Godspeed,
