Cracked Pots for Jesus
Thanks again for your prayers. We cherish your friendship and value
your practical support.
In 1884 Charles Spurgeon spoke these words: Though over a century old, they are as relevant today as when they were first preached.
“You as preachers have nothing else to employ as the means of good, except the salvation of Jesus, and there is nothing else worth telling. To hope ever to bring sinners to holiness and heaven by any teaching but that which begins and ends in Jesus Christ is a sheer delusion. None other name is given among men whereby they can be saved. If you have to deal with highly learned and educated people, nothing is so good for them as preaching Jesus Christ; and if the people be ignorant and degraded, nothing is better for them than the preaching of Jesus”.
Most days I feel like a cracked pot. A broken vessel that has been wonderfully restored and made useful for the work of the kingdom. I am fully aware of my ability to sin and fall, but even more I am filled with an overflow of God’s grace and the urgency of His call to tell the world of Jesus. He is the potter and we are but clay.. But God never makes junk! He loves to redeem and rebuild so that we are even more effectve for the work. Nothing is ever wasted in His purposes. Check these words out:
2 Corinthians 4:5-7 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
I’m in Papua New Guinea at the moment. The ministry at Living Light Foursquare Church in Port Moresby went so well with many people responding to the call.
Long days. Lots of travel. Keep preaching Jesus… Thanks for praying.
Godspeed,
